The 2024 edition of the Fayez Sarofim U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship gets underway Saturday with eight first round qualifying matches on the schedule alongside a busy day of practices.
Half the qualifying field of 16 is Americans, led by former Texas A&M player Patrick Kypson, the second seed. One all-American matchup is on Saturday’s slate, with 20-year-old Martin Damm, Jr., the son of for ATP doubles standout Martin Damm, Sr., taking on 25-year-old Brandon Holt, the son of WTA legend Tracy Austin. Also in qualifying is Houston-born Gijs Brouwer who reached the US Clay semifinals last year after a run to the quarterfinals in 2022. Wu Yibing will also be in qualifying, taking on No. 7 seed Clement Tabur. Wu was the 2023 Dallas champion and will be playing for the first time since the US Open following an October operation on his foot.
Qualifying starts at 11 am and is free to attend.
